"Where Taking Time Matter"

Urban Girls Rock! is a mentoring program for young women under the executive direction of Lanisha Porter. In 2015 UGR! was created with the intent to support young girls who could be developed holistically during their maturation into young womanhood. Our priorities include successful completion of high school and post-secondary education plans. The program is also dedicated to civic engagement, and healthy personal development.  Urban Girls Rock! has mentored over 300 girls nationwide since its inaugural year being offered on the St. Stephen campuses located in Louisville, KY, Hardin County, KY and Jeffersonville, IN where Rev. Dr. Kevin W. Cosby serves as the Senior Pastor. Age eligibility for this program is for young ladies between 11-17.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR 

​Lanisha Porter, 25, is a Louisvillian. Raised by a single father she developed a deep understanding for the need of dedicated mentorship and strong female influence. Lanisha holds a bachelor’s from New York’s Manhattanville College, authors two books, owns a publishing company, and recently appeared as the face for Kentuckiana’s Today’s Woman Magazine. She enjoys traveling, and passionately serving in her community.
